Pursuant to the proposal of the Minister of Finance, Èric Jover, the Government has filed a formal petition for adhering to the International Monetary Fund.
Thus begins a process which will take around a year and which will involve the technical teams of both the Andorran government and the IFM working together.
This will allow, amongst other aspects, to set the amount of quota and the statistical data to share.
Andorra’s adherence to the IFM will improve its international standardisation and cooperation, the access to technical assistance in financial or statistical matters as well as the possibility of accessing a lender of last resort, if necessary.
This international organisation was founded in 1945 with the aim of fostering global monetary cooperation, securing financial stability, facilitating international trade, promoting high employment and sustainable economic growth, as well as reducing poverty around the world.
