A strategic sector of the Andorran economy

The financial system is one of the main pillars of the Andorran economy which, together with the insurance sector. It contributes to 13% of GDP and up to 19% taking into account the sector’s indirect contribution*

The Andorran banking sector comprises a total of three banking groups with over 90 years of banking experience.

The main business areas of banking entities are commercial banking, private banking and asset management and insurance, and are regulated and supervised by the Andorran Financial Authority (AFA), the Financial Intelligence Unit of Andorra (UIFAND) and by the State Agency for the Resolution of Banking Entities (AREB).

Andorran banks achieved profit of 163 million in 2023, up 44% on the previous year. Assets under management totalled €74,187 million euros, 16% more than in 2022.

The financial profitability of the entities, measured with the ROE, presents in 2023 a consolidated data of 10.38%.

The CET1 solvency ratio (Regulatory) is from 17.00% to 31 December 2023 (according to Basel III).
